Fixed Deposit Calculator
Interest and maturity on a lump-sum fixed deposit.
Fixed Deposit Calculator — how it works
A Fixed Deposit locks in a lump sum at a fixed interest rate for a chosen tenure. This calculator shows your maturity value under quarterly, monthly, half-yearly or yearly compounding — whichever your bank offers.
Compounding frequency matters
The same annual rate produces slightly different maturity amounts depending on how often interest is compounded. More frequent compounding (monthly) yields marginally more than less frequent (yearly) — the calculator lets you match your bank's actual method.
Tax-saving FDs
5-year tax-saving FDs qualify for deduction under section 80C, but the interest earned is still fully taxable and comes with a mandatory 5-year lock-in.
TDS on FD interest
Banks deduct 10% TDS once your annual interest from all deposits with that bank crosses ₹40,000 (₹50,000 for senior citizens). Submit Form 15G/15H if your total income is below the taxable limit to avoid this deduction.
